The name Cinquefoil derives from Latin, a crasis between the term potenza and the diminutive “illa” which assumed the meaning of a great power in a small flower. It seems that the attribution of such virtue depended on the fact that some types of this five-leafed plant were used to extract tannins for therapeutic purposes. In the language of flowers, the potentilla symbolizes maternal love, perhaps because of the tendency of the leaves to close over the flower in case of rain. This wine was dedicated to it and to tell a story of the vineyard.

 Characteristics: The golden color is enlivened by canary yellow nuances. The scent of lantana flowers stands out on the nose, with summer hues, and the delicate hint of boxwood to frame a wine that meets passion fruit, with hints that recall physalis, nettle, candy floss, peach in syrup, honeysuckle flowers and leaves faint balsamic and coriander notes in the background. In the mouth the wine bursts forth with great elegance. Softness, flavor and minerality compete for the initial sensation and then make way for a progressive vivacity and complex aromatic returns: sweet, exotic, citrus. In the long finish, a light hint of woodiness renews the intrigue.

 Pairings: Its distinctive aromatic signature makes it suitable for combinations that delicately highlight the green and spicy part of the dish: tuna tacos with avocado and wasabi, purple cabbage cream soup with turmeric and caviar, amberjack carpaccio with prawns and lemongrass, linguine with cream of courgettes with lime and mint, risotto with rocket and basil pesto with prawns and goat's milk foam, rigatoni with marjoram pesto with burrata and confit cherry tomatoes.

Technical data sheet

SIZE: 0.75 Litre bottle.

ORIGIN: Friuli Venezia Giulia.

GRAPES: 100% Sauvignon.

GRADATION: 13% vol.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Temperature between 8/10°C.

STORAGE METHODS: In a cool place away from sunlight.

PRODUCER: Livio Felluga - Horn of Rosazzo (UD).

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites.

History Livio Felluga

It is easy to understand how the story of Livio Felluga and his wine is intertwined with the story of that particular land that surrounds the extreme north-east of the Adriatic, the point of contact between the Mediterranean and central Europe. A story of borders that have changed many times, empires that have disappeared, past wars... of people who have stopped here. It is the story of a man who lived through two world wars, lived first in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and then in the young Kingdom of Italy, lived on the rocky coast of the Istrian peninsula and in the Grado lagoon. Livio Felluga moved to Friuli at the end of the 1930s, to settle on the gentle foothills of the Rosazzo hills. His dream of producing hillside wine was interrupted by the call to the front. As if that were not enough, returning to Italy was not easy for veterans of the Second World War: the physical, political and ethnic borders had changed, distorted forever, like the agricultural and social landscape of the hill itself. The peasant population was leaving, further impoverishing the land and abandoning the crops, values and traditions associated with it.Livio Felluga had to undertake a new battle to revive the hill, convinced that only the rebirth of quality cultivation could bring life back to the Friulian countryside. With great courage he began to restore the ancient vineyards of Rosazzo and plant new ones, introducing innovative ideas and methods. A hard job, undertaken with great tenacity and passion that will lead him over the years to create one of the most beautiful and significant business realities of the Belpaese, fully acquiring the title of refounder of the Friulian winemaking tradition and a reference player in the Italian wine renaissance.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0401/6616/2598/files/SauvignonPontentillaDOC2018LivioFelluga.png?v=1716903576
