It is said that in the year 800 the Alemanno hermit he settled on the heights of Pink to lead his spiritual retreat. In that place, about two hundred years later, the Augustinians taught the local populations to cultivate the land and in this same place the first traces of the vine are found Pignolo, dating back to the end of the 1700. Called “Pignul” in Friulian, delicate and not very productive, at the end of the 19th century it was on the verge of disappearing and always Pink It was later rediscovered and recovered.

 Characteristics: The color is a not very intense, yet deep, garnet red with blackish veins. On the nose, broad and intense, the dried plum precedes a sensation of red blackberry, morello cherry jam and tamarind kept in a cigar case, followed by notes of blueberry, rhododendron flowers, fern, violet and elderberries. The scents then veer towards spicy between black pepper, clove, incense and cinnamon. Pipe tobacco, dogwood, India ink and the scent of roasted coffee close the circle of a wine with great olfactory vastness. In the mouth, the bursting succession of aromas returns, delivering to the palate a complex and powerful wine, which overwhelms, yet is capable of great freshness with a tannin that remains the protagonist, but is dense and elegant, and a final sapidity that encourages a second taste. A wine that plays with time, the one that is taken, waiting for all the evolutions on the nose and in the mouth to be understood, to deliver a harmonious picture with multiple nuances.

 Pairings: Time returns in the pairings where this wine finds its maximum expression with slow cooking such as braised meats, game meats, ragù, stews. A story of borders that have changed many times, empires that have disappeared, past wars... of people who have stopped here. It is the story of a man who lived through two world wars, lived first in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and then in the young Kingdom of Italy, lived on the rocky coast of the Istrian peninsula and in the Grado lagoon. Livio Felluga moved to Friuli at the end of the 1930s, to settle on the gentle foothills of the Rosazzo hills. His dream of producing hillside wine was interrupted by the call to the front. As if that were not enough, returning to Italy was not easy for veterans of the Second World War: the physical, political and ethnic borders had changed, distorted forever, like the agricultural and social landscape of the hill itself. The peasant population was leaving, further impoverishing the land and abandoning the crops, values and traditions associated with it.Livio Felluga had to undertake a new battle to revive the hill, convinced that only the rebirth of quality cultivation could bring life back to the Friulian countryside. With great courage he began to restore the ancient vineyards of Rosazzo and plant new ones, introducing innovative ideas and methods. A hard job, undertaken with great tenacity and passion that will lead him over the years to create one of the most beautiful and significant business realities of the Belpaese, fully acquiring the title of refounder of the Friulian winemaking tradition and a reference player in the Italian wine renaissance.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0401/6616/2598/files/PignolodiRosazzoEremitaDOC2011LivioFelluga.png?v=1716903471
