Working with dedication, consistency, and respect, they contribute to leaving a mark on the winemaking history of this extraordinary Abruzzo region. A wine that was previously unheard of and that seeks no imitation; a personal and tailored interpretation of a grape variety and a land, combining the strength and character typical of Montepulciano.

Characteristics: Ruby, with violet reflections. nose reveals itself, right from the start, to be broad and rich; it expresses itself, in particular, with fruity hints of black cherries, notes of sweet spices and licorice. palate It is complex, full-bodied and pleasant to drink.

Pairings: Excellent when paired with stuffed pasta, it also goes well with red meats and mature cheeses.

Technical data sheet

SIZE: 0.75 litre bottles.

ORIGIN: Marche.

GRAPES: 100% Montepulciano.

GRADATION: 13.5% vol.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Temperature between 12/18°C.

STORAGE METHOD: in a cool place away from sunlight.

PRODUCER: Umani Ronchi Spa Winery - Osimo (AN).

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites.

History of Humans Ronchi

Umani Ronchi was founded over 60 years ago in Cupramontana, the heart of Verdicchio Classico, before exploring numerous other areas of the Adriatic coast. It was Gino Umani Ronchi who began to write our story. He did so by establishing a small farm in the Marche region. A few years later, Roberto Bianchi, a construction entrepreneur from Ancona with a strong passion for agriculture, and his son-in-law Massimo Bernetti, a recent graduate in Political Science and aspiring to a diplomatic career, joined that small business. The story of Umani Ronchi began in the late 1950s, when Gino Umani Ronchi established a small farm in Cupramontana, the heart of Verdicchio Classico, in the Marche region. A few years later, the company was acquired by the Bianchi-Bernetti family, who acquired the brand and the property, bringing with it a new entrepreneurial impetus. On January 4, 1968, the company transformed into a winery, and just a year later, the company's headquarters and administrative offices moved to Osimo, where the cellar dedicated to the production of Rosso Conero was inaugurated. During the same period, the Castelbellino cellar, already dedicated to the production of Verdicchio, was expanded. Management of the company was entrusted to Massimo Bernetti, who pursued three overarching objectives with vision, foresight, and entrepreneurial flair: developing the wine's marketing on foreign markets, particularly Germany and the UK; increasing production, adding Rosso Conero to Verdicchio; and expanding the company's agricultural area, which gradually reached over 200 hectares of vineyards in the Marche and Abruzzo regions. During those same years, Massimo Bernetti decided to work on the entire production chain, improving its quality and expanding the offering, starting with red wines, especially Rosso Conero. 1982 saw the first vintage of San Lorenzo, and 1985 saw the birth of Cumaro.Verdicchio was also renewed through the isolation of individual, dedicated vineyards and reserves: Casal di Serra was born in 1983, and 1985 marked the first harvest of Verdicchio Villa Bianchi. In the early 1990s, Massimo Bernetti, supported by his son Michele, a recent graduate in Economics and Business from Ancona and with experience in London working in the Sales Department of the import agency that handled the distribution of Umani Ronchi wines in the United Kingdom, decided to undertake research into the most advanced agronomic and winemaking techniques, also through collaborations with experts from leading university research centers.

What our past was like, what our future will be like

The story of Umani Ronchi began in the late 1950s, when Gino Umani Ronchi founded a small winery in Cupramontana, the Marche region, home to Verdicchio Classico. Looking beyond the region's borders, he decided to enlist the valuable collaboration of winemaker Giacomo Tachis, known for creating wines such as Solaia and Sassicaia. From this collaboration, in 1994, Pelago was born, the result of extensive research into international grape varieties and their integration into the local terroir, and winner of the International Wine Challenge in London. The award for "Best Red Wine in the World" brought it to the front pages of leading national and international publications. Shortly thereafter, Wine Enthusiast magazine included it among the top 100 wines of 1998, with a score of 97/100. 2000 saw the completion of the new wine cellar: an architectural and cultural project that was part of a broader renovation of the Osimo winery.An architectural feat that once again demonstrates an openness to research and innovation. Michele, together with his technicians, continues to refine the style of his wines, resulting in the creation of new products and meticulous attention to detail for existing labels. This is a process of perfecting the Umani Ronchi collection in an extremely challenging and competitive domestic and international market, where differentiation is essential and the pursuit of uncompromising quality is paramount. The Decanter Gold Medal for the 2004 Cùmaro and the Gambero Rosso White Wine of the Year award for the 2009 Verdicchio Vecchie Vigne are the most recent confirmations of a meticulous work with deep roots. Today, Michele combines his technical and managerial commitment with the development of foreign markets. In this way, Umani Ronchi has become a truly international brand, a symbol of Italian winemaking excellence. In 2015, Michele Bernetti was chosen as "Ambassador of the Marche Wine Region in the World" at the Milan Expo. In conjunction with this important recognition, Umani Ronchi is moving toward completing the conversion and organic certification of all its vineyards. In 2020, Umani Ronchi was named to Wine Spectator's Top 34 Wineries in Italy.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0401/6616/2598/products/Montepulcianod_AbruzzoDOCCentovieBio2015UmaniRonch.png?v=1716904386
