In 1988, management of the company passed into the hands of Marco Caprai, Arnaldo's son, who, with great passion, provided the decisive impetus for the success of the estate's wines through managerial leadership and by initiating collaborations with industry professionals and research institutes in both agronomy and oenology. Since 1991, the company has undergone a tremendous effort: the acquisition of new vineyards, experimentation, and technological modernization. The results were already visible in the short term: the best clones and training systems were identified, the most suitable fermentations were chosen, and the wood used for optimal aging. The '93 Sagrantino di Montefalco selection (celebrating the company's twenty-fifth anniversary) firmly positions Marco among the great Italian wine producers. For the last five editions, the Guida ai Vini d'Italia, published by Gambero Rosso and Slow Food, has awarded the Sagrantino 25 Anni the prestigious Tre Bicchieri award. This has been complemented by other prestigious accolades, including the super three stars from the Guida Veronelli and the Oscar del Vino for Best Producer awarded by the Italian Sommeliers Association.
