Among those participating in the founding act were figures who had left their mark on the history of Alba and the municipalities of the Langhe region, as well as many small local producers. The first harvest was in 1905. Difficult years followed, characterized by a general economic uncertainty, exacerbated by the First World War. In 1922, when the Cantina Sociale's renewal deadline expired, many members decided to no longer contribute their grapes. The year, while exceptional, was not a bumper one. The winery began to experience serious financial problems and was placed into liquidation. During this time, the young Alfredo Prunotto met and married Luigina, with whom he decided to take over the Cantina Sociale \u0026quot;Ai Vini delle Langhe\u0026quot;, naming it after himself. Thanks to the couple's passion, the winery quickly became famous and began exporting Barolo and Barbaresco worldwide: first to South America and then to the United States, whose markets were opening up in those years. Prunotto was one of the few companies to believe in this economic prospect. In 1956, Alfredo Prunotto decided to retire from business, selling the company to his winemaker friend Beppe Colla, supported by Carlo Filiberti and later by his brother Tino Colla. In 1961, Prunotto began identifying particularly prized production zones for the separate vinification of the Cru wines, such as Barolo Bussia and Barbera d'Alba Pian Romualdo. In 1972, Ugo della Piana, an architect of Langhe origins, designed the new winery, which was built near Alba, where the company's headquarters are still located today. In 1989, the Antinori family began its collaboration with the Prunotto winery, initially handling distribution and then, in 1994, with the retirement of the Colla brothers, directly taking over production, maintaining the excellent level of quality Alfredo Prunotto had so passionately desired. Their production philosophy, attentive to every detail, and their great passion for wine immediately united Prunotto and the Antinori family, who, in this area, faced a new challenge: a new terroir where the great territoriality of both native and non-native grape varieties could be expressed.This project took shape in 1990, when Albiera Antinori, the eldest daughter of Marchese Piero Antinori, further defined the winery's personality, placing particular emphasis on the vineyards, primarily the Bussia vineyard, one of the most renowned in the Barolo region; the Costamiòle vineyard in Agliano, for the production of Nizza; and plots in Calliano for the study and analysis of new varietals such as Albarossa and Syrah. The company conducts studies, research, and experiments on the vineyards, without adopting a pre-established formula, with a particular focus on sustainable agriculture and manual work. Every year, with each harvest, the methods and timing for the best care and management of the vineyard and the production of each individual wine are evaluated, respecting its characteristics and enhancing its potential.","brand":"Prunotto","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":39849621553318,"sku":"VIN01046","price":21.56,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0401\/6616\/2598\/products\/prunottonebbioloocchietti.png?v=1716904278","url":"https:\/\/cosidilposto.com\/en\/products\/langhe-nebbiolo-doc-occhetti-prunotto","provider":"Cose del Posto","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
