In early September, the north wind brought a refreshing breeze to the vines before the final ripening phase, which was characterized by significant temperature changes between day and night, typical of our high-hillside vineyards. We began harvesting on September 21st, more than 10 days later than average for Biondi-Santi. The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Biondi-Santi Riserva is a truly majestic wine. On the nose, the fruit is immediately intense and compact, with dark cherry, pomegranate, and blood orange—so typical of Biondi-Santi wines—while notes of Mediterranean scrub release hints of thyme, rosemary, and sage. Floral sensations of red roses and violets, followed by undergrowth, follow.
