Although they had been winemakers for four generations, the turning point came in the late 1950s when Luciana Vietti married winemaker and art connoisseur Alfredo Currado. His insights—from the creation of one of the first Barolo crus (Rocche di Castiglione – 1961), through the vinification of pure Arneis (1967), to the invention of the "Autore Labels" (1974)—made him both an icon and the architect of some of the most significant revolutions of the era. His intellectual, professional, and visionary legacy was continued in the early 1980s by his son-in-law Mario Cordero and subsequently, starting in 1989, by his son Luca Currado Vietti and his wife Elena. With their commitment and vision, they have contributed to the further success and growth of the Vietti brand, now universally recognized as one of the finest Italian wine labels. Vietti continues its pursuit of quality, respect for tradition, and careful experimentation. In 2016, the historic winery was acquired by the Krause family. This has allowed them to expand their estate's vineyards by adding several renowned crus in both the Barolo and Barbaresco regions, allowing them to look to the future with even more promising and stimulating prospects, while maintaining the approach, culture, and values for which Vietti has always been known. The focus is on producing wines that are the result of understanding and celebrating each individual terroir as the starting point for unique and extraordinary quality, as well as a philosophy of artisanal and non-invasive work both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Vietti wines are currently distributed in over 60 markets worldwide, exclusively through a network of high-end agents, importers, and distributors who sell only to high-end restaurants, wine shops, and hotels, as well as specialty retailers.
